Lisa Balton is a self-taught painter based in Memphis, Tennessee, working across acrylic, collage, encaustic, and mixed media. Her process is intuitive and physical, often involving layering, pulling, and reworking the paint itself to create surfaces rich with color, movement, and texture. Balton is drawn to the act of discovering within the painting-allowing forms, fragments, and materials to emerge and shift rather than forcing a fixed outcome.  Her work celebrates color as both structure and emotion, inviting a sense of play and openness.  At its core, her practice is about creating work that can be felt as much as seen, encouraging viewers to slow down and simply enjoy the experience of the painting.
